Very good for non-CPAs

My major is neither in finances nor in business and after years of practicing law I ended up doing business management and finances is part of it. Before considering going back to school to learn about finances I picked up this book at our local library. I really liked it and learned a lot that I decided to buy one to have it handy. Leila Hart teaches difficult concepts in a way that I don't feel I ever need to go to school in order to learn them. I feel I have enough knowledge of business accounting to continue doing my work the best way possible. In fact, a couple of clients did not even know I do not hold a major in accounting because they said I speak really well about their business accounting when in meetings (and this is a good sign). I would recommend this book to those who own small businesses or manage a business but is not an accountant because we all need to know what really happens with the business finances.

Perfect refresher!

I just read this book to refresh my accounting and finance knowledge as my career led me to another facet of business for the past few years and now I want to pull back in the finance/accounting knowledge for my career. This book gives a concise overview of accounting from a 'why do we do it and what does it mean?' as well as a practical hands-on approach to accounting and financial analysis. I would highly recommend this to someone who wants a refresher or a solid overview of accounting/corporate finance in layman's terms.
